Our poor vacuum cleaner died a slow and painful death over the last few months. You have to wonder just how much cleaning is done when the beater brush only moves when the carpet forces it to do so! I'm not easy on my vacuum cleaners by any means. Dirt, dog hair and inconsistent vacuumings all contributed to the demise of the Bissell. However, the vacuum "expert" we consulted was amazed that it lasted the 3 or 4 years that it did. He said the average life span for our cleaner is 8 months. I found that hard to believe until I vacuumed with our new vacuum the first time and filled the bag 1/3 full!! Oh my...what have I been living in? Worse thought...what has been living in my carpet?
Still, I know a new vacuum won't cure my dirty carpet woes. No, I must commit to more regular cleanings. Hopefully the newness of the Riccar won't wear off too quickly, because right now it's almost pleasant to vacuum....almost! Here's hoping the feeling stays. I'll let you know how it goes. Right now I need to go vacuum.
