Alaska: DAY 3

Day 3 and it’s only Monday, I think. We awoke to a rocking ship; I instinctively reached for my anti-nausea medicine and then ate my breakfast in bed. It was awesome! I had classes all day today until 4pm. But about 10 minutes into the class I realized that the motion of the ocean was causing some problems with the old equilibrium. I did not feel nauseated or sick to the stomach. I just could not walk straight and felt a little discombobulated, and very sleepy. I have taken my anti-nausea medicine the two days prior and had not had any problem with drowsiness until today. At lunch I caught a little bite to eat and a nap. Then, after my class I went back to our cabin and crashed for a couple of hours. Keralyn and I had made reservations at the 5 star restaurant and tonight we gussied up in our fancy britches and went out on the town. We had stopped to have many pictures taken by the ship’s professional photographers and then it was off to dinner. Apparently I am not a 5 star kind of guy. I had the lobster tail it was wonderful, I just didn’t really recognize anything else I ate, but it was good too.

I have been having the sensation of an “out-of-body” experience; this is just weird. I just hope that tomorrow when we get out of open waters and into the inlets that the water calms down and we stop rocking back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth, and back and forth…sorry just stepped out of my body again. I had better let Keralyn finish this section of the blog. Oh, sorry we haven’t e-mailed any one we have to pay by the minute for the Internet so we only get on long enough to copy and paste our blog and post it. We miss you all and hope all is well.

Sheesh, I think Mike’s already asleep!  Boy has he been out of it today.  I’m glad he hasn’t been nauseous, and I know we’d both rather he were zoney than sick.  I, on the other hand, have had a completely different experience.  I love this feeling of constant motion and having the ground suddenly drop out from under you!  I’m so glad I don’t get motion sickJ

The best part of the day was definitely dressing up.  Mike and I looked and felt dashing in our…how did Mike say it?…fancy britches.  We’ll post pictures as soon as we don’t have to pay $.75 for every minute of internet use!  The food was delicious and the environment and company were fantastic.  Our reservations weren’t until 8:30, and we didn’t get done until quarter to 11.  We sat and listened to a string quartet play a few beautiful numbers and then went to bed.  I can’t wait to see Glacier Bay tomorrow.  There’s a good chance we’ll spot some Alaskan wildlife.  I LOVE THIS!!!!!
