Alaska: DAY 5

Day 5 and our first day at port. We woke up this morning after sleeping in a little and I was very anxious to get into Juneau. I hurried up and got dressed and ran out onto the deck of the ship as a bush plane was taking off in the bay. It reminded me of when I went fishing in Alaska with my dad and brother. We landed in Juneau and then took a very similar plane to out fishing spot. I remember the ride being noise but the smoothes plane ride I have ever had. After breakfast we took a tram ride up the side of a mountain walked some trails and spent some time in the gift shops, We ate lunch at a salmon bake camp that used to be an old gold mine, The salmon was delicious. We even panned for gold and found some, too small to bring home. We then went straight to the library, I know your probably thinking that the library would be that last place to go on vacation. And I agree! But it was the only place with wi-fi so that we could make a few e-mails home, well it was really only one and the internet was so slow that it never even got sent. We spent the remainder of our time in Juneau walking up and down the main streets and doing a little shopping. We ate dinner in the up scaled dinning room tonight and made reservations to do the same thing tomorrow. We finished the night of with the boats live entertainment, it was a mixture of dance styles and costumes. It was fun if your into that sort of thing, that is why we stayed with our wives like good sports while in our hearts we where wishing we had gone to the theater to watch Sherlock Holmes. We are currently at sea again and headed to Sitka, Alaska. I have no clue what to do there but I’m going to find out, it is always “home or high adventure,” and since I cannot swim I think I will try some adventure until we arrive back in Seattle.
